Flute Talk Thoughts

I was reading the February issue and I read "Lets Talk Picc, Master Pieces for Band, Music for Prague 1968." The title got my interest right away because lately I have been making plans to see my friend who lives in Prague during my time in Vienna, and because my Grandfather on my Dad's side is Czech.

Here are my thoughts on this article.

I like this article because it talked about the history of the Czech Republic at a time that was very tragic. The piece Music for Prague 1968 is very symbolic of that period in the Country's history. The composer of the piece, Karel Husa, a native of Prague, wrote this piece as a reaction of deep sadness and his heart felt emotions for Prague and for his family who was living there. He was living in the US at the time which obviously made it harder.
I have only begun to shat this experience by simply reading the article. I plan to find a recording of it soon. I look forward to listening to it.
