I decided to get back into the blogging mode. Not that no one ever reads this by any means, but I figured, why not! But, I will soon start a blog for Russ & I when we get married for friends and family to see, and so they can keep up with us.
So, here is the scoop on my life as of today, June 13th, 2011.
I graduated from the U of M with a music education degree. My student teaching experience was amazing, but I plan to take a year off from school. I know this sounds like a crazy thing to do, but in order to keep what I like to call "my sanity" in check, I think taking a year off will be the best thing for me to do. Keep in mind that the "sanity" of a music teacher is much different from most. This way, I can support my soon to be husband through his student teaching, and be there for him. I will still do music activities to keep my music chops in tact. I will be doing in the Missoula City Band this summer, and continue it through the fall. I would also like to be Orff certified in my year off so I can feel more prepared to teach general music. In the mean time my search continues for a job to pay the bills survive in life.
My summer plans so far are Missoula City Band, like I said above, and I am currently self employed. I am an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics, and I am loving it! I have already achieved so much with the help and support from my recruiter and my unit director. It is a very fulfilling and satisfying job that I can work my own way. The month of June is my month for my business to take off, and I'm so excited! This may not make sense, but what I learn with Mary Kay in working with people, I will apply to teaching. You can always apply something to teaching. I also might be able to work at a scrap booking store in the mean time as well. :) I know right... that would be such a hard job... ;) I just hope it works because that would be my ideal job in my year off. In conclusion, my goal for the year is to learn to slow down, relax and to take time for my self and my future husband. I have discovered that in my 5 years of college, I thrive on being busy, and if I am not going a million miles an hour, I don't know what to do with my self and I can't relax. Well, I say it is about time I learn how to do that!
My first high school reunion is this summer! I have family and friends coming and I really hope I can make it to see them! I will be a counselor at Flathead Music Camp starting on July 10th, and the reunion is July 8th, 9th, and 10th. I would love to take the train to Libby to visit Uncle Wayne, and then go up to camp, but that wouldn't leave me with a lot of time at the reunion to visit, but I'll just have to figure out how that is going to work. But, I am excited about working at Flathead music camp for a week because I get to work with the teacher I student taught with again! I also hope to see some Columbia Falls kids again at camp. I miss them so much!
WEDDING PLANS!
So far wedding planning is going well! I just need to finish the out of town/state invitations and get those sent out. I have been procrastinating on them, and it's not good! I just hope I am giving everyone plenty of time to see if they can come or not. The only things that we have to take of now are catering and booking a place for the rehearsal dinner. Everything else is decorations and flowers. :) I have an appointment with a florist tomorrow. I am just going to have my bouquet made by a florist, and my mom, my sister in law and I are going to make everything. It has been so much fun getting everything together and planning with Russ and our families! We are also going to have a candy buffet, so right now I am decorating the paper bags for that. It is amazing what stamps and ink can do!! :) (Says the scrapbook Queen!)
So there you have it, my summer plans. :) We also have an apartment! I will put the address up on our blog about our married life when I make it. Peace out friends!
